Neil McKenzie Wins SME Managing Director Of The Year Award

By Alba News

SME News Magazine has announced the winners of the 2022 Managing Director of the Year Awards and we are delighted that our own Neil McKenzie has been recognised as Industrial Engineering Managing Director of the Year.

Jazmin Collins, from SME News, commented on this year’s awards “Leading a business is no trivial matter, especially considering the challenges faced by companies of all sizes over the last couple of years. Indeed, uncertainty remains seemingly ever on the horizon, creating an ever-shifting landscape with little in the way of stability. It’s a time of immense change, regardless of sector or market – a time where great leadership is a crucial foundation for those businesses still achieving success and growth.”

“It was with this very much in mind that the Managing Director of the Year Awards were launched. At a time when Managing Directors are being tested and facing obstacles at every turn, it is essential to stop for a moment and recognise those who are distinguishing themselves as extraordinary. Whether that be through driving change, implementing new policies, achieving growth, entering new markets or anything in between. Amazing work is being done up and down this country – and we wanted to congratulate those spearheading it.”

Neil had this to say “Individual awards, although nice to receive, are not about me, they are about the full team here at Alba and a recognition of their hard work, dedication and the outstanding quality of work they deliver every day.”

Alba Power Increase Presence In North America

By Alba News

Due to continued growth, our Sales manager for the Americas, Kevin Grant, will be relocating to the Sulzer La Porte facility as the Aero Product Line Sales Manager.

This will give Alba/Sulzer the ability to further improve our already first class service levels in this area and fully support our North American client base.

Kevin commented “I am delighted to be making this move and to be working more closely with the Sulzer team at the world class, La Porte facility. As always our priority is to offer unmatched service levels and responsiveness to our growing customer base, and this move will allow me to do that more effectively as we continue to find a pathway through ongoing travel restrictions”

Alba Power Nuclear Support

WORK CONTINUES TO SUPPORT OUR NUCLEAR HERITAGE

By Alba News

Alba Power were pleased to assist when one of our key clients and one of the nation’s key power providers called to assist with some Olympus issues at site.

Given the ongoing restrictions, a robust plan had to be created quickly to allow safe travel and site work.  Steve Collie, our Contract Engineer, was able to travel to site within a few hours of notification where he was able to work through our processes in a safe environment with strict self-distancing in place.

After a few short hours we were able to return the unit to service while we plan further works to improve reliability.

A delighted client praised us not only for this job but for the ongoing overhauls that we are currently working on and commented that both our workshop and site and field work is industry leading.

We look forward to continuing to support this client during and post COVID-19.

ALBA FURTHER GROW REVENUES AND SUPPORT IN UAE

By Alba News

Due to an increasing level of contracts and therefore works and support requirements, we are pleased to announce that Michael Johnston, our Head of Business Development, has relocated to Dubai to assist with our growth under Sulzer Abu Dhabi and our Gas Turbine Services group.

With large contracts already in the region, this change allows us to focus directly and more intensely on our clients requirements. In addition we will be utilising our parent companies facilities in their Electro Mechanical shop in Abu Dhabi. This will allow us to complete power turbine overhauls, controls upgrades, front line gas turbine support as well as locating spares, tooling and lease engines for our key clients in the region.

Michael commented, “ This is the culmination of many years of work and desire to grow in the region and both increase and improve upon our local service. Having the additional backing of Sulzer, our parent company, also improves the services and engines we can now support. I am looking forward to the challenge of growing the Alba business further in the UAE and beyond.”
